Postnatal Pilates

Following the changes that occur to your body during pregnancy, there may be muscle length and strength adaptations that need addressing. These often arise as a result of your posture and as you return to normal activity may give rise to stiffness, soreness and sometimes even pain. Sometimes you may also find that it is just not as easy to work your muscles like you used to, because they are not positioned so that they can work to their optimum ability.

Specific Pilates exercises according to a controlled, timely and safe method will improve your muscles strength and length, and posture as your body returns to it’s pre-pregnancy form. These are undoubtedly better taught by a trained and qualified professional if your aim is to get the most out of the time you put into your exercising.

Most ladies can return to exercise at around 6 to 12 weeks after giving birth, but suitability must be assessed on an individual basis.
